The A-OK Foundation is an organisation formed to provide help in our community
We provide help and support to people over the age of 65, registered disabled or families/individuals on a low income. Here at AOK we understand that emergencies and situations arise that you may not be prepared for. We treat each funding application on a need by need basis.
Who We Are
We are a non-profit organisation that will provide short term financial assistance to people with an immediate need. . Our assistance is delivered in a way that helps preserve dignity. When a request is approved, we either ship a cheque to the appropriate entity, electronically issue a gift card or purchase the item directly. For example, if the request is to pay for a child’s yearbook, we would issue a cheque to the school. If the request is for an item that can only be obtained with a gift card, such as school uniform, the requestor estimates the value of the item and recommends a store convenient to the family. If there is an item which is readily purchasable like football boots, then we will purchase and ship it directly to the appropriate parent / guardian.

What We Do
01.
— We Find & Fund
Every day, a child goes to school without a winter coat, wearing trainers with holes in them or carrying school supplies in a paper bag because they can’t afford a backpack. The aim of The AOK Foundation is to support children in need in our local community. Providing Acts Of Kindness.
02.
— We Build Networks
We provide Acts Of Kindness to children who are identified by teachers, social workers and others. They fill out a request form, and we respond with a gift card / cheque / Item requested. In addition, in the case of a gift card this approach allows the child to actually go to the store and pick out the item (a bike, baseball glove, tennis shoes) that they desire.
03.
— We Strengthen
The assistance we provide is not delivered directly to the child. We do not collect items and deliver them to the family’s doorstep. Instead, after the gift card is handed to the adult or the adult is informed that a check has been processed, the adult can then proudly announce to their child that they are getting the desired item. This process helps preserve the dignity of the child and gives the parent the opportunity to “shine.”
